Materials for LVP, laminate, engineered hardwood, and tile — including underlayment, transitions, and moisture barriers.
Common to every floor
- 10% overage minimum (15% for diagonal or herringbone)
- Underlayment matched to floor type (cork, foam, or none if pre-attached)
- Moisture barrier if over concrete
- Transition strips at every door and change of material
- Baseboard or ¼-round shoe molding
- Tools: tapping block, pull bar, spacers, jigsaw
LVP specifics
SPC-core LVP is dimensionally stable and can go over most subfloors. Verify the manufacturer's max span for cabinets — floating floors should not be trapped under heavy fixed cabinets.
